SUGAR MINOTT + SLY & ROBBIE & REVOLUTIONARIES - LEAVING BABYLON + GUNS OF BABYLON (1979 BUSY RECORDS)

Ah! la quete est longue quand on est aime le travail de Lincoln "sugar" Minott... Et je suis tres content d'avoir déniché il y a peu ce maxi de 1979 avec les revolutionaries dont je ne connaissait pas l'existence. Enregistré a channel one et produit sur le label BUSY (appartenant a Clive Campbell l'homme de spiderman)c'est tout simplement un pur recut de "guns of navarone" chanté par Sugar himself! Musicalement ca sent le Sly & Robbie a plein nez, d'ailleurs le rythme est un truc que seul Sly jouait, entre autre sur le "don't look back" de Tosh ou "relax baby cool" de Gainsbourg, cet espece de pattern binaire sorti droit de chez motown et réadapté à la jamaicaine. Pour le riddim lui même on rappellera que ce fut un des plus gros tubes instrumentaux des skatalites dans les 60's, et que eux même avait repris la musique du film de guerre "les canons de Navarone" datant des annees 50(ca suit derriere ?) Bref le mec qui est vraiment fan de l'original risque pas d'écouter ca...En tout cas c'est un 12" donc il y a la version de Sugar, puis le dub, puis la version face B qui reprend les cuivres de la version skatalites !!! En tout 14 minutes ! C'est un peu long, certe mais quand on aime on ne compte pas...
